Meet Katie
Hi, I'm Katie — a mom raising an all-boys family in rural Iowa. Drawing on my Ph. D.-level background in Counseling Psychology & neuropsychology and my experience writing for a magazine, I love putting words to the feelings that matter most.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a warm place in my heart for older adults- especially those who are homebound or living in care centers, where LONELINESS can feel especially heavy.
Growing up in a musical family, we regularly visited our local nursing home to share songs and music, then stayed to visit with residents. Those moments were very powerful for me, and when I started my own family, we continued the tradition- taking our children to connect with residents.
Over the years, I’ve stayed in touch through letters with a lovely woman living in a nursing home. She eagerly awaits my updates about our bustling household and always asks for
MORE LETTERS- saying they bring her JOY and make her feel CLOSE TO FAMILY, even though we are not related.
That's why I've made it my mission to share-
Letters From Home!
These experiences showed me how deeply loneliness can affect us- particularly when miles or time keep us from the people we love most- and how much a simple, personal letter can brighten a day.
